There is a children's area (which will feature attractions such as face painting and inflatables), a 19th Century Market with 300 performers in costume. Opportunities to try sailing a small dinghy, paddle a canoe and learn to make a rope or build a boat. The Whale and Dolphin roadshow will be at the Festival with a giant 100ft model of a Blue whale. At 14.15 – 14.45 daily there will be a Royal Marines Air/Sea rescue scenario in the Harbour featuring helicopters and aircraft. Other air activity is presently being planned.

The following aircraft types are expected: Harrier, Tornado, Nimrod, Sea King, Lynx, Chinook. The numbers and variants are yet to be confirmed.

Where will be the best place to view the Air/Sea display?
The display takes place in and over the harbour to the north of the Naval Base, therefore any of the visiting vessels berthed along Fountain Lake Jetty and the area of North Corner will have great views. You are advised to secure your viewing position in good time before the 14.15 start time. Additionally a network of large screens and the PA system will relay the display site wide.

Will there be an aircraft carrier at the Festival?
Yes, HMS ILLUSTRIOUS will be present and open to the public. It is likely to be very popular so we recommend visiting it earlier in the day.
